Fulsome tributes were paid to outgoing Royal British Legion Chairman, Chris Paige who was standing down after three years in the role.

However, filling the considerable gap left by Chris's departure precipitated an urgent review of the branch's future - Petersfield RBL is one of the oldest in the world.

A special meeting was called on Wednesday 8 July to discuss options, which included finding new officers or merging with another branch or even ending the branch.

New officers were elected but new members are urgently needed.

Mike Waddington attended the meeting and spoke to outgoing Chairman, Chris Paige, Branch President David Lodrick MBE, and the new chairman James Deane.

Petersfield British Legion fights on

As school children across our area break-up for Summer we hear how Herne Junior School pupils took to the stage at Petersfield's Community Fair.

The school choir includes pupils from years four, five and six.

They performed a set of positive uplifting pop songs Try Everything, You can Count on Me, The Climb and Proud.

The children belted-out these tuneful favourites from the biggest mobile stage ever seen in Petersfield. It was the centrepiece of the fair held at Churcher's College.

We hear from choir members Ellie, Ellen, Eloise and Lara. Hear their reactions as they step off-stage and up to the Shine Radio microphone.

The children are introduced by the choir leader, teacher Miss Clare Morphew. They are speaking to Stephen Martin.

Heartstart Meon Valley attended the Petersfield Community Fair to help educate us on the importance of heart health and how to resusitate.

Steve and Gerald are volunteers with the charity. They train adults and school children locally.

They also dispel concerns people have about using a defibrillator and help us understand where to find one when you need it most.
